NOMINATE A YOUNG VISIONARY

Louisville, KY – The Arts Council of Louisville, Inc. is presenting the “Young Visionary Awards” to eight youth, ages 13-18, on Sunday, February 19, 2012 at the 2nd Annual History, Heritage and Family Day. This is a city-wide and neighborhood event is to be held at Central Career Magnet Academy at 3:00 PM in the Main Auditorium.

We are hoping to encourage our young people to honor their talents, stay in school, be a friend to others, repect family, teachers and elders and be a positive role model in the community.

Youth will be honored in three categories:

ARTS (visual and performing)
ACADEMICS
ATHLETICS

Designer Awards will be presented to finalists. All participating youth will be recognized and receive a “Trying To Make A Difference” Certificate. This is the theme from the original CD of Heaven and Earth, recording artists. Local performers will be JAZZ Poet Mike “B,” the River City Drum Corp and a special presentation by a JCPS Middle School student.

Our guest MC will be Kyala Williams and our official greeters will be the Prince Hall Masons. A “Lifetime Visionary Award” will be a highlight along with the special video of the honoree. Join us on this exciting historical journey.

In addition, nomination forms are available at various community locations. The deadline for all submissions is February 10, 2012. There is no admission charge for youth who attend the event. Adult donations at the door are acceptable. This will benefit the Arts Council of Louisville’s programs for youth. A reception will immediately follow.
