The Arts Council of Louisville celebrates its 20th Anniversary with the inaugural Black Media Expo 2018, presented by Louisville’s Finest: A Talent Showcase, funded in part by Republic Bank on November 3rd, 2018! The event will take place in the Hotel Louisville Grand Ballroom located at 120 West Broadway, Louisville, KY 40202, from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm. Registration begins at 8:30 am. Admission is a Donation of $10 per person or $100 to reserve a table of 10. The event will feature Networking, Media Vendors, Live Entertainment, Panel, Workshops, Luncheon, Trailblazer Legacy and Sankofa Awards, and More! The Keynote Speaker at the Luncheon will be Hazel Joyner-Smith, Founder of the International Black Film Festival. The Panel “Empowering the Community Through Media: Where Do We Go From Here?” will include local and national media professionals discussing the state of black media with Q & A Session. “GrandMa’s Teaspoon of Wisdom” Book Signing by ACOL Founder/Storyteller Nana Yaa Asantewaa.


The Trailblazer Media Legacy Awards is a special recognition of Black people’s ownership and creative endeavors in the Louisville media industry. Kentucky is a state where filmmaking, animation, cartooning, television, radio, and music production; journalism, photography, and videography has been on the rise. The Kentucky Film Industry has provided various resources for the state economy as a whole. Education adds value to the skills of those persons who are passionate and willing to establish their own media companies within Louisville and throughout Kentucky, providing jobs, products, and services to the people in their communities and expanding exposure abroad.
