The mission of the Arts Council of Louisville is to connect, strengthen and support community arts. We envision arts for everyone, everyday and everywhere because we believe that where there is art there is life. The Arts Council of Louisville provides art-making opportunities and offers resource materials, research, arts residencies and programs, arts advocacy and neighborhood arts services. In 1998, the council was founded as a 501 (c)3 nonprofit charitable organization. The SANKOFA Academy for arts education and leadership development of youth is our signature program that is now in it's 10th year. It is locally based and international in scope. Sankofa involves cultural eenrichment and history of West Africa. In addition the Arts Council is involved with various ethnic groups throughout Metro Louisville and Southern Indiana.

The Arts Council of Louisville’s is a community and consumer resource center that is staffed by a volunteer arts manager, community volunteers and interns. Technical assistance is available Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (Thursdays by appointment and closed on Fridays).
